Expanded myProgress: USCIS Provides More Transparency to I-485 and I-821 Applicants
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has taken a significant step towards improving customer experience by extending the myProgress service, formerly known as personalized processing times, to two key forms: the I-821 and the I-485. This expansion will initially apply to applicants for Form I-485 based on family or special immigrant Afghanis.
What is myProgress, and how does it benefit applicants?
MyProgress provides applicants with direct access to personalized estimates of wait times for key stages of their case, including the final decision. This online tool addresses applicants’ concerns about the status of their applications while awaiting a decision. Although based on historical patterns, these estimates are not guarantees and cannot account for all unique processing factors.
Which forms are covered by myProgress?
In addition to Forms I-485 and I-821, myProgress is already available for applications related to Form I-765 (Employment Authorization), Form I-131 (Travel Document), Form N-400 (Naturalization), Form I-90 (Replacement of Permanent Resident Card), and Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative).
How to access myProgress?
Applicants must create or log in to their online USCIS account and select their pending application. If they filed electronically or linked their form to the online account, they will see the “myProgress” tab, displaying the estimated wait time and completed stages.
While myProgress improves process visibility, applicants can still check the case processing times page to determine if they are eligible for service inquiries for cases outside normal processing times. With these enhancements, USCIS demonstrates its ongoing commitment to efficiency and applicant satisfaction.
