U.S. Considers Restricting Entry for Citizens of 43 Countries

The U.S. government, under the administration of Donald Trump, is evaluating the possibility of banning entry for citizens of 43 countries, including Cuba and Venezuela, according to a report by The New York Times. This measure, still under review, could significantly impact travelers and migrants from these nations.

    Restriction Categories

According to a draft document circulating within the administration, the affected countries would be divided into three categories:

    • Red List: Includes 11 countries whose citizens would face a total entry ban into the U.S. Among them are Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.
    • Orange List: Consists of 10 countries whose citizens would face entry restrictions, though not a complete ban. This group includes Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Turkmenistan.
    • Yellow List: Made up of 22 countries whose citizens could be subject to additional entry measures, such as more rigorous interviews and stricter visa requirements.

    Impact and Possible Changes

Official sources cited by The New York Times indicate that the lists were prepared by the State Department and could still be modified before becoming an official policy. It remains unclear whether individuals with valid visas would be exempt from these restrictions.

Additionally, for countries on the Orange List, there is a possibility that wealthy business travelers may obtain special permits after an interview process.

    Conclusion

If implemented, this measure would represent a significant shift in U.S. immigration policies, directly affecting citizens of the listed countries. However, since this remains a draft proposal, there is no official confirmation regarding its approval or implementation.

Travelers are advised to stay informed through official announcements from the U.S. State Department and other government agencies.
