USCIS updates immigration fees for inflation effective January 1, 2026
On December 31, 2025, USCIS published a new edition of Form G-1055 (Fee Schedule), version 01/01/26, which incorporates inflation-adjusted fees for certain immigration charges established by H.R. 1, effective January 1, 2026.

In practical terms, the official comparison indicates that some amounts remain the same and others increase slightly: the initial fee for Form I-589 (asylum) remains at $100 (previously $100, now $100), but the annual fee for pending asylum increases from $100 to $102; the initial I-765 (employment authorization for asylum/parole/TPS applicants, as applicable) increases from $550 to $560; the I-821 (TPS, for first-time applicants) increases from $500 to $510; and, in the case of the I-131, the HR-1 fee associated with an EAD for a new parole period (re-parole) increases from $275 to $280.
USCIS warned that any application sent with a postmark of January 1, 2026 or later that is subject to these fees must include the correct payment, as an incorrect amount may lead to rejection of the filing. For this reason, they recommend always verifying the current edition of Form G-1055 and the official instructions before submitting any application.
