United States Reports Record-Breaking Border Control Numbers in the First 100 Days of 2025
In just 100 days, the United States has implemented a series of actions that have radically transformed the landscape of border security. Under the current administration, led by President Donald Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, a migration control system has been consolidated and described by authorities as the most effective in the nation’s history.
One of the main achievements has been a 93% reduction in daily border encounters, accompanied by a 95% drop in so-called “gotaways,” considered one of the greatest threats to public safety. Additionally, irregular border crossings have decreased by 99.99%, according to official data.

Comparative Figures Between Administrations
During the previous administration, monthly border encounters averaged 160,000, with daily peaks reaching up to 15,000. Between 2021 and 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded nearly 11 million encounters.
In contrast, March 2025 marked a historic low, with fewer than 7,200 monthly encounters. In February of the same year, daily encounters dropped below 200, according to the report.
Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
Another significant result is a 54% decrease in fentanyl trafficking compared to March 2024. This progress has been supported by joint actions with the Mexican government, which has seized 1,500 kilograms of fentanyl and arrested over 6,000 suspected traffickers.
Increase in Arrests and Deportations
Between January and April 2025, U.S. authorities carried out over 151,000 arrests of individuals in the country without legal status and deported more than 135,000. This total exceeds the annual number of administrative arrests for fiscal year 2024.
Among those detained are members of criminal organizations such as MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and Calle 18, as well as individuals with serious criminal records.
Operation Tidal Wave: Multi-Agency Deployment
As part of this immigration control plan, Operation Tidal Wave was launched, a multijurisdictional initiative coordinated through ICE’s 287(g) program. This operation has focused on capturing immigrants with criminal records, resulting in 780 arrests in just four days. Among those apprehended are individuals accused of homicide, drug trafficking, sexual abuse, and human rights violations.
In parallel, a 317% increase in cooperation agreements between state and federal agencies has been recorded, enabling a more effective response on the ground.
Conclusion
The first 100 days of 2025 have marked a period of intense border security activity, with a strategy focused on reducing irregular entries, curbing drug trafficking, and strengthening interagency collaboration. Authorities have announced that these actions will continue to expand nationwide.
