Iowa approves law allowing arrest and deportation of immigrants. According to a law approved on Wednesday by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, if a person is found in the state after being denied entry to the United States or has been expelled from the country, they would be committing a state offense. The law, which takes effect on July 1, has increased nervousness in immigrant communities in Iowa and has raised questions among legal and law enforcement experts about how it will be applied. The law partially resembles a Texas law that is currently being blocked in the courts. In Iowa and across the country, Republican leaders have accused President Joe Biden of neglecting his responsibility to enforce federal immigration law, prompting some Republican governors to send troops to Texas, and state legislatures to propose various strategies at the state level.
