The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement expressing its recognition of the victims and families affected by crimes committed by individuals with irregular immigration status in the United States. The message highlighted the strength and resilience of those who have suffered losses and serious harm, as well as the institution’s commitment to public safety and victim support.

According to DHS, the law enforcement agencies under its umbrella work daily to prevent such incidents and to provide support to communities. The statement also reminded the public that victims of these types of crimes can access assistance through the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office by calling 1-855-488-6423 or visiting the official website www.ice.gov/voice.
