Biden Withdraws as Democratic Presidential Candidate
President Biden announced that he will step aside as the Democratic presidential candidate and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the ticket against former President Donald Trump in November.

Biden’s announcement ends weeks of anxiety among party leaders who urged him to exit the race after a disastrous debate performance left many Democrats fearing he was too old for the office and unable to defeat Trump.
“I believe the best thing for my party and for the country is for me to withdraw and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in a statement. He will address the nation later this week, he added.
