DACA recipients can enroll for Affordable Care Act health insurance starting November 1, but advocates and lawmakers want the Biden administration to help spread the word.

The Biden administration paved the way for DACA recipients to purchase health plans through a federal regulation that went into effect in May. Like everyone else, DACA beneficiaries can begin enrolling in subsidized private coverage on November 1.

However, Juliana Macedo do Nascimento, Deputy Director of Federal Advocacy at United We Dream, an immigrant advocacy group, said that for DACA recipients to benefit, the Department of Health and Human Services needs to help disseminate the information.

“HHS, in conversations with advocates, has said that it was not going to allocate resources to really advertise this and specifically target DACA beneficiaries,” Macedo do Nascimento told NBC News.
