Executive Orders on the Border Are on Their Way
Executive orders on the border are on their way. The most significant move by President JOE BIDEN to crack down on the border will arrive in June, according to outside advocates and Capitol Hill aides who have been in contact with the administration.

White House and DHS officials are finalizing the details. This month, the administration already launched new actions to expedite the asylum system.
Now, Biden is expected to announce a new policy that would grant him the authority to “close” the border between ports of entry if a specific number of illegal crossings occur daily.
The New York Post reported on Wednesday that the figure will be 4,000 daily border crossings over a week, a trigger similar to the one included in a bipartisan border agreement that failed earlier this year. Two individuals briefed on the administration’s plans told West Wing Playbook they have heard similar figures but cautioned that the number is subject to change. A White House official also noted that until a final decision is made on any policy measures, the timing and details could change.
